RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE contains Tetracycline which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis or whooping cough, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea or syphilis, skin infection such as acne, eye infection such as conjunctivitis, rickettsial infection such as Q fever or tick fever (severe headache, rash, high fever).
It is also used to manage other infection including brucellosis (headache, sickness, fever, swollen lymph nodes), psittacosis (headache, nose bleeds, shivering, fever), plague (painful swelling of the lymph nodes), cholera (severe sickness and diarrhoea), leptospirosis (fever, causing jaundice or meningitis), gas-gangrene and tetanus (lock jaw).
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver, kidney disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Contact your doctor before taking it.

The most common side effects of taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, urticaria, photosensitivity, increased pigmentation. Contact your physician if any of the symptoms worsen.

RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is a broad-spectrum antibiotic works by stopping the growth or killing the bacteria. Thus helps to reduce the infection in the body.
How to use RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE
Take RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine one hour before or two hours after meals, followed by a glass of water. Swallow the medicine when standing or sitting down, do not take them immediately before going to bed.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE early as your infection may return if you do not finish the course of this medicine.
Side Effects Of RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE
Common
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- rash, urticaria, photosensitivity, increased pigmentation
Uncommon
- flaking or peeling of the skin
Rare
- increased bruising, nosebleed, sore throat, infection, excessive tiredness, breathlessness on exertion or abnormal paleness of the skin
- ulcers or swelling in the throat, difficulty swallowing
- kidney failure, nephritis (may cause swollen ankle or high blood pressure)
- loosening or separation of a fingernail or toenails
Stop taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE and consult with your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- symptoms of an allergic reaction such as skin rash which may be itchy, swelling of your face, eyelids, lips or tongue, sudden wheezing, chest pain or tightness, breathing difficulties, collapse
- symptoms of raised pressure in the skull such as headache, dizziness, ringing in the ears, visual problems including blurred vision, blind spots, double vision
- symptoms of severe skin rash such as fever, blisters or ulcers, reddening, peeling or swelling of the skin
- a decrease in or loss of vision/eyesight
- severe or prolonged diarrhoea which may have blood or mucus in it, this may be a sign of serious bowel inflammation
- inflammation of the pancreas causing pain and tenderness in the abdomen and back (pancreatitis)
- symptoms of inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), liver failure include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, feeling generally unwell, fever, itching, yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice), light coloured stools, dark coloured urine
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea and vomiting:
Take RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE one hour before or two hours after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if the itching worsens.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhoea did not improve.

Pregnancy
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it affects bone development and causes permanent teeth discolouration in unborn baby. Consult your doctor before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE.

Breastfeeding
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as this medicine passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE.

Kidney
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease. Contact your doctor before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE.

Liver
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. Contact your doctor before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE.

Allergy
Do not take RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE if you are allergic to tetracycline, other similar antibiotics (such as minocycline or doxycycline) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Lungs
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients with asthma. Consult your doctor before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE.
Others
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for you, if you:
- have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (a condition characterised by a rash on the face, hair loss, fever, malaise and joint pain)
Before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you:
- have myasthenia gravis (a condition characterised by muscle weakness, difficulty chewing and swallowing and slurred speech)
- are sensitive to sunlight
- have allergies, hives, hay fever
Use in pediatrics:
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. It can cause permanent discolouration of tooth enamel and affect bone development. Contact your doctor before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE.
Use in geriatrics:
RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in elderly patients with kidney disease. Contact your doctor before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- penicillins such as phenoxymethylpenicillin (used to manage infections)
- vitamin A (used to manage vitamin A deficiency and night-blindness)
- retinoids such as acitretin, isotretinoin and tretinoin (used to manage acne)
- oral contraceptives (medicines used to manage pregnancy) Ex. levonorgestrel
- anticoagulants (used to stop the blood clotting) Ex. warfarin
- diuretics such as furosemide (used to remove extra fluid in the body)
- kaolin-pectin and bismuth subsalicylate (used to manage diarrhoea)
- medicines such as insulin, glibenclamide or gliclazide (used to manage diabetes)
- anaesthetic such as methoxyflurane (used in anaesthesia)
- atovaquone (used to manage pneumonia)
- antacids such as aluminium, calcium, iron, magnesium, bismuth or zinc salts (used to manage indigestion, heartburn)
- sucralfate (used to manage ulcers)
- lithium (used to manage bipolar disorder, depression)
- digoxin (used to manage heart failure)
- methotrexate (used in rheumatoid arthritis)
- strontium ranelate (used for osteoporosis)
- colestipol or colestyramine (used to manage high cholesterol)
- ergotamine and methysergide (used to manage or manage migraine)
B. Drug - Food interaction:
Do not take this medicine with milk or food at the same time, as they can make the medicine less effective.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose of RESTECLIN 250MG CAPSULE are nausea, vomiting, crystals or blood in the urine, hypersensitivity reactions.
